Week 51
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
1 weeks to go... ONLY 21 cups to go, 42 cranes to fold and an entire exhibition to plan, organise and run!
As I am burning the almost midnight candle writing this I am half wishing I hadn't drank quite so much in week 51 as I have been rationing myself to a strict 3 cups a day for the last week so I can end up having the 1000th cup at 3pm on the Sunday the 11 of january at E for Ethel.
You are all more than welcome to come and join me for this momentous occasion.
I am extremely torn about finishing this journey. It is a very strange and interesting thing to have been consciously counting, folding and recording my life via coffee, origami and photos for an entire year. I have been saying to Sean this week "What am I going to do with myself once this is over?"
At the moment I do have the exhibition to plan, promote, organise, hang OH and a rather large number of cranes to fold, coffee cups to build, fire, decorate and fire again. I will also be in residence at the exhibition on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights during the exhibition. On Saturday we have the origami mobile crane workshops - the link to the tickets are on the end of this post. So I think I will be ok as to what to do with my time. :)
It is all becoming very exciting that in 7 weeks my first solo exhibition will have been officially opened. I really do hope that a large number of crane get returned to the exhibition. The invitations will be arriving very soon to your inboxes, with instructions of what you need to do with your little crane (and what to do if you can not attend) I will also be very active on Social Media and in person at the Fringe Funhouse in Rundle Mall.
And for the last time...
Until next week may all your cups be delicious and all your cranes fly free. Make sure you register your email if you found a little bit of luck (a crane) or would like to attend the exhibition opening on the 27th of February and running until the 20th of March at Gallery One in Mitcham. Please Register your interest here.

Week 38
This week Susanna and I ran some Clay making classes for school holidays on wednesday and thursday. The classes are so much fun and the children and adults make some really awesome creations.
We had the Relay for life Quiz night on the Saturday night at West Adelaide Football Club. It was a fantastic night and we raised a LOT of money for the Cancer Council.
I also had a clay making class on the sunday, and we launched the idea of making Wonkie Pet Pots. The idea is that people make their creatures with their mouths open and once they are fired a succulent can be placed inside. So some of my creations will be available with succulents inside very soon.
Please check out Alyssium Delights, some fantastic goodies and a supporter of our fundraising efforts for the Relay.
Also I have been a little crazy busy so I have included the squares decorated at the Dog Day Out and Flinders St Market below the images from this week.
Until next week may all your cups be delicious and all your cranes fly free. Make sure you register your email if you found a little bit of luck (a crane) or would like to attend the exhibition opening on the 27th of February and running until the 20th of March at Gallery One in Mitcham. Week 37
700! WOW!
I have started getting very busy and the blog gets bumped for preparing for markets, writing grant applications, writing reports. I wish I could just write my blog and create art. But unfortunately when you are a one woman show, you have to do it all. Mum has started assisting me with some of the administrative stuff that I can ask her to do. THANK GOD FOR MUMS!!!
It has been a while since my last entry so I am going to attempt to be short so I can catch up.
This week I had a week off from the markets and did some running around to prepare for the busy Spring and Summer market season. I did however drop into Flinders St Market for a coffee from The Macaroon Man, it is very nice coffee.
The exhibition dates have been moved a week earlier and will open on the 27th of February and will run for 3 weeks until the 20th of March. I will also be holding Origami mobile workshops on the Saturday 28th feb, 7th and 14th of March. Tickets will be available through the Adelaide fringe website.
Until next week may all your cups be delicious and all your cranes fly free. Make sure you register your email if you found a little bit of luck (a crane) or would like to attend the exhibition opening on the 27th of February and running until the 20th of March at Gallery One in Mitcham. Please Register your interest here.

Week 36
Hello, Monday the 15th was my Birthday! It is the year of the horse this year, MY YEAR! I can feel the awesomeness already! My sister Hyeon took me out for some Yum Cha and we also had coffee at Mooi in mitcham.
I would LOVE it very much if you could all help me. I will be selecting one image from each week to be on display at the exhibition. I am really not quite sure HOW I am going to do this. So this is where you come in. I would appreciate it very much if you could PLEASE comment on each blog which image is your favourite. THIS will help me so very much and I thank you in advance. If you comment you will be in the running to WIN an awesome prize! I have not decided what the prize will be yet, but it will be awesome!
This week I worked on a drawing of Panther, I am not sure if I am going to keep it or sell it. I guess if anyone wants to make an offer on him, for the right price I will sell it. ;o) The photo of the drawing is below this weeks crane images.
I went up to Really Useful Pots this week to catch up with Susanna and work on the coffee cups. I had a collection of cups that had been through a bisque firing and so I decided it was time to do some decorating and have some completed cups, to show you all. I spent the day underglazing as many cups as I could, from memory I believe it was 17 cups. I am very excited to see them. Susanna, bless her heart put on the clear glaze for me and fired them for me. So I will have photos for you very shortly.
Susanna and I have set up some more classes for some school holidays fun:
Clay Making Classes are on Wednesdays & Thursdays 1 & 2 October and 8 & 9 October 2 sessions 11-12.30pm & 2-3.30pm. Contact Susanna via Facebook or Message her on 0421331181
visit the event for more infomation this is on sunday the 5th of October, 10am, $30 per head or to book your place
I also attended the Dog Day Out in Mawson Lakes on Sunday this week. It was such a wonderful event, with so many people and their dogs. Mum and I didn't really have time to eat lunch. I had the privilege of drawing some beautiful dogs on the day and I look forward to meeting with all the people who won the raffle prizes I donated and the people who received the 10% off vouchers that were included in Doggie bags given out on the day.
Time for me to sign off now. I apologise for the REALLY long post... but there is soooo much going on over the next few weeks, but until next week may all your cups be delicious and all your cranes fly free. Make sure you register your email if you found a little bit of luck (a crane) or would like to attend the exhibition opening on the 6th of March and running until the 27th of March at Gallery One in Mitcham. Week 35
Hello, so in this week in my downtime I spent the week researching for a new kitten for my birthday as Sean wanted to get me one but was unsure if it was too soon until I ask. He didn't want to come and meet the kittens as he would have wanted to take them all home.
In my working hours as well as getting ready for the Dog Day out in Mawson Lakes which is on the 21st of september. I spent most of this week working on some more coffee cups for the exhibition in March.
I also had a meeting with Gallery One on the Friday. I can announce that I have booked the exhibition. Opening night will be Friday the 6th of March and the exhibition will run for 3 weeks and close on Friday the 27th of March. Now the planning and fundraising begins! If you know of any grants or any parties that might be interested in partnering, sponsoring or assisting with the exhibition please let me know. Also need someone to make a deep frame for my large pieces, at a very affordable price!
On the FridayI went out to parafield gardens to meet a black kitten that I found on gumtree that just see to say come and find me. I met with him and his foster mum and well obviously as you can see in image '673. Little Panther' he is now ours. He is a beautifully affectionate kitten and he is mostly black except for his little white marking on his neck, that we call his cravat and he has another small blotch of white down below his belly, that I call his budgie smugglers. Padme is not too happy that he is here, but she is getting used to him sort of. They both like to eat each other's food, the other day she was just sitting there watching him eat her food, what is with that?
On the Saturday, Sean and I went to the Adelaide Zoo for my birthday and so he could take photos of the animals for his photography class. It was a very enjoyable day. I attempted to take the crane photo with the meerkats and giraffes as a background but the wind blew one of the cranes into the meerkat enclosure. So as I am kind of fond of my fingers I decided to refold a crane and take a better photo. I really love the shot I ended up with in the petting zoo with the textured post and the alpacas in the background.
On the Sunday was the State Titles for GKR SA. I went along and helped set up and then I walked over to the Art Gallery of SA for a Japanese Calligraphy class with Hiroko Watanabe. In which we learned about Hiroko's Calligraphy and she taught us to paint the kanji for wind - Kaze. We then painted the first stroke of the character and Hiroko went around and completed the Character based on the initial stroke. This was a very interesting exercise and a very enjoyable class. I wish there was somewhere I could learn japanese calligraphy on a regular basis.
During the class Hiroko spoke about when writing Kanji the Shinto-Buddhist concept of nothingness is very important. In western Graphic design we talk about negative space, but in Japanese it is more about the potential of something, that all things flow from nothing to something and from something to nothing. I found this very interesting, Hiroko said that as she spent more and more time learning calligraphy she realised that if you can make the white space beautiful you succeed. She also spoke about how students who learn calligraphy usually give up before that are good at it and can truly enjoy it. I think that this is true with so many disciplines, I feel similar frustrations while teaching my karate students.
After the calligraphy class I went back to the Karate Tournament, had a beautiful cup of coffee from Gianni the owner of Cirelli Coffee. Thank you to Gianni, his dad and his Barista for setting up their coffee cart and donating some of their takings to the Relay for Life team.
The cranes featured in this week were decorated by people at SALA on Show.
Until next week may all your cups be delicious and all your cranes fly free. Make sure you register your email if you found a little bit of luck (a crane) or would like to attend the exhibition in March 2015. Register here.

Week 34
I spent this week creating my donations for the Relay for life and organising the donations, I received from the Flinders St Market stall holders. I also worked on a poster for the fringe festival. I used the butterfly image in photo 644 for my poster. I haven't heard anything yet so I am going to go with - I was unsuccessful!
Almost all the paper used to fold cranes this week were decorated at SALA on show.
Mum and I attended a Mongolian Calligraphy class at the Art Gallery as part of OZ Asia. We had such a great time and the artist Odontuya Byambaa from Ideal Brush painted all of our names for us (651). I really love the image with the character for perfection in it. (649) If you are interested in Mongolian Calligraphy you can email Ondontuya at byambaaodontuya@yahoo.com
Sunday I spent the day folding a variety of different origami creations.
Until next week may all your cups be delicious and all your cranes fly free. Make sure you register your email if you found a little bit of luck (a crane) or would like to attend the exhibition in March 2015. Register here.

Week 33
I have been distracted again. This week we attended the Gawler show, George next door to us had these amazing trucks and other vehicles made from coke, beer and spirit cans, they were very cool. Mum and I met an amazing amount of people and 85 of you participated in the 1000 cups of cranes project by colouring in a square of paper for me. I thank you and stay tuned to see your creation become one of my crane creations in the new future.
Here are all the squares decorated at the Gawler show.
Some of the backgrounds used in this week are items donated by the wonderful and extremely generous stall holders from Flinders st Market for Team GKR vs Cancer fundraising efforts for the Relay for life. Thank you so much to all the stallholders their facebook or website pages are listed after the photos from this week, please visit their pages and look at all their amazing creativity.
Until next week may all your cups be delicious and all your cranes fly free. Make sure you register your email if you found a little bit of luck (a crane) or would like to attend the exhibition in March 2015. Register here.

Week 32
600 plus cups of coffee, less than 400 to go!
This week was very much a rollercoaster ride for me. Mum and I had coffee and cake at Michel's in Castle Plaza while we visited the Optus shop as I thought my phone was going to have to go in to get a repair. But luckily it was just the charging port. Woo Hoo!
I had an awesome day up at Susanna - Really Useful Pots making cups and the first four have been through their first fire and I am very excited at how they have turned out. I also now have a copy of my instructional video to wheel throwing that Tim Wilson and I created for a Uni Assignment. If you are interested in purchasing a copy please email me naomi@wonkiekneeart.com
Then Thursday and Friday HAPPENED! Thursday was fairly relaxed I had a rest day after a full on weekend and travelling to the Barossa on Wednesday. Even stayed home from Karate as my body wasn't playing fair. Tiger and I watched some TV on the couch and I headed off to bed just before midnight. I had just settled into bed when Sean started yelling from the other room. I came out to find a very distraught Sean and Tiger unable to walk on his right front leg. It seems his right front leg was paralysed and he was having great difficulty to breathe. We took him into the bedroom and made him comfortable gave him some of his medication to ease his breathing issues. Then we decided to go to the emergency vet on Anzac Hwy.
Tiger HATES the car and he becomes extremely distressed and starts malting, panting and meowing. So by the time we got to the vet he was really anxious. The nurses were very polite and concerned. We were made to wait for what seemed like a really long time to the sounds of laughter and merriment coming from the back. Once we actually saw the Vet. I found her VERY abrupt and also not very informative. I understand she might be working in emergency but bedside manner is still necessary. Once she actually did give me just two choices I asked for her to give him some pain medication and we took Tiger home.
Tiger held on tight to me all the way home. We tried to make him comfortable but it was very difficult for any of us to settle as we were concerned for him and that he might be laying awkwardly on his arm. Eventually he settled in between us under the covers. I was able to check him, make sure his arm was not underneath him or twisted and we got a little bit of sleep.
Friday came and he was struggling to push himself up just to change position, his arm was still very cold to touch. He had not eaten, drank or been to the bathroom and his personality was fading. Tiger and I hung out in bed, I cried and cried. We went down to our local vet that afternoon. The vet said it was most likely that he had a clot restricting the blood flow to his arm and as his breathing had not improved, it was extremely likely there were other clots restricting blood to his internal organs. We decided it was time to say Goodbye to our most beloved friend and companion.
Tiger was really the most amazing animal I have ever had the pleasure of spending time with. I am so incredibly grateful that I was given the privilege to be his person for 11 years of his life and that I have known him for all of his nearly 16 years on this earth. He brought so much joy into my life. He was very funny, friendly, cuddly and sometimes demanding in a very loving way. He was chirpy and considerate. He was a bit of a tease to my other cat Padme. But I truly believe she has been looking for him for the past week. Tiger would snore when he slept. He would say Thank you when you let him in. He would also say Hello when you walked by and came home. He would headbutt to say 'I love you' and he would also give you a reverse head nod, which is the feline equivalent of the Fonz going "Eyyy". TIGER was definitely a COOL CAT and my best friend. Everyday I'm shock how much he was always around me, but I am not shock how much I miss him because I knew saying goodbye was going to be one of the hardest things I have ever had to experience.
That was Thursday and Friday.
Saturday morning I ducked into Flinders street Market to collect some donations from the stall holders for our Relay for Life events. Thank you to all of the stall holders for you donations, your kind words on a difficult morning and your hugs. This market is becoming an extended family to me. I spent the day making coffee cups at Gallery One. Which was a lovely day and I tick over 600 cups of coffee! Thank you to the friends and family that came to visit me.
Sunday I attended SALA on Show as an Artist in Residence and I also had work in the pop up gallery in the shopping centre carpark. I spent the day making coffee cups in the beautiful memorial gardens in Unley. Mum and I talked to so many people about this project and it was fantastic to meet you all. 79 people decorated squares for me fold into cranes as part of my project. Thank you so much for your involvement and enthusiasm towards my idea. Here is a photo of of all the decorated squares. SALA on Show was brilliant day and thank you to the organisers. Some news on the exhibition, I will be meeting with Sanya from Gallery One to lock in some dates and start the planning, grant writing etc that goes with organising an exhibition! So stay tuned for details in the near future.
Until next week may all your cups be delicious and all your cranes fly free. Make sure you register your email if you found a little bit of luck (a crane) or would like to attend the exhibition in March 2015. Register here.

Week 31
This week my sister gave me some really nice material and some origami papers that she had, so I could start working on her crane artworks. So a large portion of this weeks cranes are made from origami paper. Also a few of the cranes were decorated by the Brown Owl craft ladies from Gallery One.
On Saturday this week I spent the day making coffee cups inspired by the photos from this blog at Gallery One in Mitcham. It is really interesting going back to the photos I took in the beginning which were just images not influenced by countless other images and the concept of having to find inspiration from the photo for the coffee cup. I feel like the first 500 photos will be inspiring the coffee cups and the second 500 the idea of creating coffee cups are inspiring the photos.
Until next week may all your cups be delicious and all your cranes fly free. Make sure you register your email if you found a little bit of luck (a crane) or would like to attend the exhibition in March 2015. Register here.

Week 30
Hello I have been busy/slack for a couple weeks again. I have decided to put what the backgrounds I have used in the description of the photos along with either the name of the person who decorated the paper or the up-cycled item I used to fold the cranes so that the information is all together and you can all find your contributions much easier.
This week some of the adventures that I got up to were: On Tuesday I was invited to by one of my Karate students along with her mum and fellow instructor Eliza to introduce her classmates to Karate. So on the way I had breakfast at a lovely little cafe " Suzette's Caffe" in Burnside. I met Suzette herself, an what a wonderful lady, great coffee and food. Wednesday I traveled up to Really Useful pots Studio/farm to work on 1000 cups of cranes coffee cups and to plan the handbuilding and wheel throwing classes Susanna and I will be running in the school holidays and next term. Friday afternoon I met my sister at IKEA to find some frames for a crane artwork I am working on for her, then we had dinner at mum's place. Saturday we had a Relay for life GKR vs Cancer Team meeting to plan and update each other on our fundraising efforts. We will be having two events
and GKR vs Cancer Quiz Night - Oct the 4th more details to follow
Sunday would have been tournament day, but unfortunately I came down with a bug! Hence no coffee that day.
Until next week may all your cups be delicious and all your cranes fly free. Make sure you register your email if you found a little bit of luck (a crane) or would like to attend the exhibition in March 2015. Register here.

Week 29
This week was a monumental week for me, as my work is now on display at Gallery One in Mitcham. I am finally living my dream I have had since I was 15 years old.
The backgrounds of the photos this week are a table, block of chocolate, the seat at the fine frame studio, a loom my grandad made, a jumper of a volunteer/artist at Gallery One, sponge at Really Useful Pots, another sponge, an item in Susanna's living area looks like an old pan used to heat the bed sheets, wall of pebbles, pink pj's, jumper hood, quilt cover, ceramic bottles, jewellery, another sponge, a bag, some homemade critters, scarf, car console, my cousin's top, my notebook, canvas and half of the square my cousin decorated.
As you may know I have started a drawing table at the markets and it will also be available during the open studio sessions at Gallery One. I ask people to decorate a small square of paper and I will use them to fold cranes when I needed. I have stated who decorated the cranes under each of the photos.
If you would like to participate in the 1000 Cups of Cranes project you are welcome to decorate 2 small squares of the same size. (between 3 cm - 4.5 cm square). Please be aware that when they are folded into cranes there is not a large surface that is visible, so you do not need to spend a lot of time or be artistic. Please post to 6 Alma St Panorama, with your name on the back of your squares and if you include a return address I will do my best to post you back the crane if it is used in my project.
This week on Saturday Susanna and I had a making in the markets session at Flinders St Market. We had a fabulous group of ladies who made some AMAZING creatures from clay. If you are interested in more clay classes please let me know Susanna and I will be running classes at Really Useful Pots studio in the Barossa and if there is enough interest I will run some either at Mum's place in West Beach or at another location (if i find one)
534. Faith, love, hope - Serenity Jewellery. Sarah makes some fabulous jewellery out of pearls and other semi precious stones and metals. 537. Happy furry faces - little green cat. Hillary makes awesome creatures That are tactile and GORGEOUS! Also makes costumes, jewellery and other items.

In August I will be at Sat 16th, 11am - 4pm In residency @ Gallery one 1 Torrens st Mitcham Sat 23rd, 11am - 4pm In residency @ Gallery one 1 Torrens st Mitcham Sun 24th SALA on Show in the memorial gardens (on the corner of Unley Rd and Thomas St) adjacent to Unley Shopping Centre I will also have work in SALA on Show Marquee

Week 28
Wow I am now up to date with my blogs! YAY!
Tomorrow I will be at Flinders St Market I will have my stall set up and my Fabulous mum, Shirley will there to take orders for pet portraits and/or specialised artworks. Week 27 - 500!
Would you believe it 500 cups of cranes. That is 500 cups of coffee, 500 photographs taken (if you don't count the rejected shots) and 1000 cranes folded!!!! Amazing stuff. So I am officially halfway to my target of 1000 cups of cranes in a year. Very proud of myself so far and I am even more excited about creating the 1000 coffee cups to match the photos. I can see the exhibition in my minds eye. I can see you all coming in and asking to purchase your little piece of this interesting journey and project and loving it as much as I do.
This week the backgrounds to the images are my pancakes with banana and yogurt, my hair, a memento box, dust cloth, my jumper, the view from the Really Useful Pots Green Shed of the Really Useful Pots studio with a Really Useful Pots Bird, an old cart at Really Useful Pots, my vampire creation with a moustache, Sun Tzu statue, embroidery of an Asian building, newspaper, old radio with dust included, vase, brick alcove in the wall, sideboard, piece of bread, flower box and curtain, the wall at the restaurant.
This week I had a week off from the markets. Spent almost every moment I had working on the painting for SALA exhibition at Gallery One in Mitcham. Except for Wednesday, I went to Really Useful Pots in the Barossa Valley. Which is such a beautiful place, the scenery is AMAZING and the sunsets are INCREDIBLE. Susanna and I held two clay making classes and they were FABULOUS you can see photos on either Really Useful Pots facebook page or on Wonkie Knee Art's Facebook page. Susanna and I will be running a Clay making session at the Flinders St market tomorrow the 2nd of August. To get one of the few spots left please visit the event Making in the Market #5 - Making creatures from clay
On the weekend I did take some time out from painting to attend a special seminar with the founder and chief instructor of GKR Karate, Kancho Robert Sullivan. It was a fantastic seminar and I felt every minute of the 2 hr session for the next couple of days. So I know it was worth it and I trained hard. I was trying to make it to number 500 so I could give it to Kancho, but alas I didn't quite get there by Saturday and I gave him 496. Bricks in the wall.
On Sunday night, Sean and I went out to New York Bar and Grill Caffe Primo in Marion. I took the photo with the cranes in the groove of the wall I really do like the image and I have an awesome idea for the matching coffee cup. I decided to give the crane to a couple of other diners in the Caffe. We shall see if #500 returns or not?
I am enjoying this journey immensely and now that I have reached the hump I image the second half of this journey will start gaining more momentum as I start making coffee cups and planning out the finer details of the exhibition. I really would love to know what you think about the photos so far. So please leave a comment below or on our facebook page.
Until next week may all your cups be delicious and all your cranes fly free. Make sure you register your email if you found a little bit of luck (a crane) or would like to attend the exhibition in approx 1 years time. Register here.

Week 26.
Would you believe that I have been doing this for 6 months ALREADY! Time wise I am halfway, next week I will drink my 500th cup, I am getting excited about that.
The backgrounds used this week were, my painting briefcase, the lid of my painting box with golden painted lunch bag, my second artwork for SALA at Gallery OneThe Black Turtle of the North, the mirror on the door of my studio, the quilt cover, the lid of the box the chop came in, an orangutan soft toy, butcher's paper that has been wet and then dried, the third painting for SALA at Gallery One, The Azure Dragon of the East, a coaster, the printed chop, a table cloth, a Chinese newspaper, pizza, newspaper again, orange paper, the dragon artwork, a different quilt cover, the bed sheets and a massage tool, fake flowers, dried flowers and lastly a box of Apples.
So this week I was knee deep in painting the turtle and the dragon for SALA. I attended Meadows country market on the Sunday. 480 and 481 I gave to the two lovely ladies who run the kitchen at meadows. They do make the best scones. Also a lovely cup of soup, that warmed me up as I was freezing.
482. Granny Smiths is a box of apples from the energetic Nicci from Avindale Farm who is there every week selling her amazing produce.
Until next week may all your cups be delicious and all your cranes fly free. Make sure you register your email if you found a little bit of luck (a crane) or would like to attend the exhibition in approx 1 years time. Register here.

Week 25
Hello loyal 1000 cups of crane readers. I apologies that I have not updated the blog for FOUR WEEKS. This is due to locking myself in the studio and painting for the SALA Festival that official opens today the 1st of August. I will be smashing out the four weeks that I am behind. I hope I manage to mention all of the wonderful people I have met in this time.
This week backgrounds were: Quilt cover, pot holder, my first artwork for SALA - The White Tiger of the West, paper, container of slip, my easel, my jumper (that I knitted) art goal workbook from Leonie Dawson, paper at Gallery One, Knight Rider box set, office chair, bubble wrap, inside of a slipper, white plate, Tangerine meg's paints, The Tardis model, earrings and necklace, bathsalts, hot dog, moose and plant and a homemade teddycat.
On Wednesday (cup #449) of this week I visited Gallery One in Mitcham. The artworks for SALA will be on display at Gallery One until the 24th of August. I explained the 1000 cups of cranes journey/project to the Gallery coordinator Sanya and she really loves it. All things going well the exhibition 1000 cups of cranes will be held at Gallery One in March 2015. At some point before visiting Sanya at the Gallery I had this brainwave to create 1000 COFFEE CUPS inspired by the photos from this blog. I have begun this second phase of creating these ART CUPS to be sold at the exhibition along with the photos and the crane artworks. I am very excited by this new phase of this journey. You will be able to come to Gallery One on the 16th and 23rd to see me making these cups and possibly even contribute to them in some way.
I have also started a drawing table, where you can colour in a square for me to use to fold cranes out of. This table will be available at most of my market event from here on out. (If I have enough space)
455. Tangerine Cranes - Tangerine Meg an wonderful lady named Margi who creates bold art with bold colours for bold souls. 456. Dr Who - Babycakes run by Kristy a bright bubbly woman who creates awesome Jewellery from Dr Who to Vincent Van Gogh (one of my favourites) to Lego pieces. I recently bought some flowers to match my Wonkie Knee Art custom art jacket. 457. Coffee & Vanilla - Oh Deer Sugar. Bath Salts that have coffee in them. I AM IN HEAVEN!!!! Sharni and Nikki make all of their vegan body products. The smell is incredible. Carly and Glenn make the best dang hot dogs EVER!!! "Get in my belly" 459. Moose Juice - Juice excuse. Dani makes a killer juice and an extremely tasty warming soup well worth it on a winter's day. 460. 460. Sleeping Teddy Cat- Sukie. Kareen makes some beautiful handmade home decor items and children's clothing. I couldn't go past the gorgeous Teddy cats. So cuddly and just adorable.
Until next week may all your cups be delicious and all your cranes fly free. Make sure you register your email if you found a little bit of luck (a crane) or would like to attend the exhibition in approx 1 years time. Register here.

Week 24
Hello again, so close to the half way mark I can just taste the coffee. Ha Ha Ha.
This week the backgrounds were the dinning table and ruler, the tiles in the lounge room, quilt cover, sandal, the card table, dojo and students, pink note pad, scarf, blanket, side of the stereo, ice cream cone, a bench, my apron, thank you card, parsley, tablecloth, a board for clay, large crane and basket, inside a rusted old laundry tub, a book and chocolate bar.
So this week I spent most of the week creating some clay creatures taking progress shots and smashing out creating the instructions to use for our clay sculpture classes. It felt really good to be using both my bachelor's degree and my graduate diploma in my business. This really makes me feel like I am doing what I was meant to be doing and what I have dreamed of doing since I was 15 years old. I am very excited to see what creations these resources inspire.
Susanna from Really useful pots and I conducted a introduction to clay creation at New Life Church in Tanunda for the UP Kids Club, ranging in age from about 5-12. They all had a fantastic time getting messy hands producing all sorts of imaginative creations, one small young lady around 5 years old created a couple of little tiny tea cups and three hand bags. It was an awesome night and the team gave us both beautiful cards and a box of chocolates.
We spent the weekend at the Flinders Street Market and it was totally rocking. Gas heaters DELICIOUS food, fantastic stalls and enthusiastic people, such a wonderful place to spend a winter weekend. I had such a great time creating clay in the market and life drawing with Dr Sketchy.
But first 435. is the tablecloth at Raewyn stall Betty's Frock Shop. Raewyn has some amazing clothes, boots and other groovy things. I especially love the dress she made out neck ties it is a true work of art.
Number 436. really awesome ideas I decided needed to go to one of our behind the scenes market people Lisa. She is there every week making sure the little things get done, that every one has what they need and supporting Georgia so I though she could have this one because .... she is AWESOME and the market was helping all of us like minded creatives generate some awesome ideas.
437. Are you our mummy? went to a couple of new stall holders at our little rocking shed. Tina from Poschka Designs Handmade earrings and accessories and Natalie Three Parsons a fashion label. I heard they had paper cranes in their stall so I couldn't miss out on the opportunity to take a photo of my cranes with theirs.
On Sunday we had a very special visit from Dr Sketchy Adelaide and a live model. A few of us stall holders and some of the public sat for a couple of hours drawing sketches of Hannah the model, bobby for apples in a bit of a risque fashion. It was very enjoyable and if time permits I will be completing an artwork for possible selection in the calendar. I am also looking forward attending more of Dr Sketchy's events in the future.
Olive branch is part of the cover of Diana Hutchinson's book “Setting Yourself Free”. Diana runs a life coaching business Directions Coaching she also offers business coaching, and goal setting groups.
The final photo of this week "440. Dreams do come true" refers to the awesome weekend I had, the market was rocking, a lovely lady by the name of Amber came down to ask me to draw her beautiful dog Bailey, book into our clay workshop and on Sunday Sanya from Gallery One came down to the market to have a look at my work, more about this in next weeks blog.
You can find me at the following markets for July and August.
July 5th and 6th July - Flinders St Market 13th July - Meadows Country Market I am having a weekend off for painting and recharging. 26th and 27th July - Flinders St Market August 2nd of August Wonkie Knee Art and Really Useful Pots will be at Flinders St Market hosting a workshop We hope you will join us it is going to be so much fun.

Week 23
Hello everyone. Sorry about the delay on Week 23. I am under the pump now. As I have lots of exciting things on the horizon for Wonkie Knee Art. Working in collaboration with Really Useful Pots, is very exciting and the classes that we will be running from Susanna's Studio in Angaston are going to be fantastic. Her property is fantastic, peaceful and pretty much my absolute dream home/studio can not wait to start producing some incredible clay pieces.
From now until the end of July I am locking myself in my studio as much as I can to finish my four artworks series "Five Elements" for the SALA festival exhibition at Gallery One in Mitcham.
This week the backgrounds were the footpath, inside a chocolate wrapper, hot chips, artwork sketch, wine glasses at Susanne's house, coffee cups made by Really Useful Pots, Sean's hood, the bench at mum's with dark lighting, the quilt cover, a vase with flowers in it, the dash of the car, lump of clay with crane imprints, capsicums, blanket, red rug and table cloth, wooden mushrooms, embroidered positive message, Calcite gemstone, flowers, the heater.
This week I visited Really Useful Pots on Wednesday to work on some ideas for our collaboration. Susanna's Studio is brilliant and I am so happy to be visiting her on a more regular basis. It was an interesting week, my business has truly taken a new path and it is wildly exciting.
Also spent the weekend at my new favourite hang out Flinders Street Market. I met some more fantastic stall holders.
Saturday we met Julia from Starr Fruit and Veg, her capsicums starring in 413. Fresh fruit and vegetable every week the best reason to get down to the market and have a look at all of the INCREDIBLE market stalls.
Blue on Blue with tunes - Theo is an fantastic musician I met at Market on Oaklands who has decided to join the Flinders St Market party. He brings all the bells and whistles and the kids can provide some percussion and sing along. Mum picked up the ukulele and provided some back up.
Red Red Red is the Beautiful Coco Stop who I have mentioned before. But who can go past homemade chocolate, in the most amazing flavours. Bebe is so adorable and Ama and Phil are so wonderful to have in the market each week. Phil has stepped up to help our lovely leader Georgia with the logistics of the market and is doing an marvelous job.

Week 22
400 cups only 600 to go!!!!
The backgrounds that I used this week were a t-shirt and dressing gown, coffee cup, blanket and coffee table, table, bench at the post office, Sean's jumper, coasters, a box with ribbon on it, bed sheets, socks, easel, paint pallet, my jeans, box with giraffe print on it, carrot cake, pumpkins, hair ribbons, plant and water crystals, tea towel, and my feet in the bath.
So this week we attended the last Market on Oaklands, I walked around and met each and every market stall that was in attendance. Those who had business cards I collected and I have listed them below. (sorry if I missed anyone) Thank you to all of the markets holders who donated prizes for our Relay for Life team, if you wish to donate some money my partner Sean has joined the GKR team and you can donate here - Donate to Relay for life. - Sean Watts.
If you are a fellow business and would be interested in donating anything that we could use as raffle or auction items we will be running at least two events. One in August which will be a quiz night and another in early October which will be a themed night at the Griffins Head Hotel. Any donations will be greatly appreciated.
Or if you want to join our team send me an email or message on facebook and we will get you organised.
My favourite photo this week is 400. This little piggy went to Market. I was going to go out an have a special cup but I was in so much pain and exhausted from the day at the Market I had a bath instead.
Please follow the links at the end of this blog to contact any of the market stalls from Market on Oaklands.

Week 21
380 Cranes.... next week I will reach the 400 mark!
This week the back grounds used were my shirt collar and skin, the armrest on Grandma's chair, my dressing gown, the heater, bed sheets, inside of a glass, a light shinning through a glass onto butchers paper, the inside of a plastic bag, sandpaper, the inside cover of a notebook, the outside cover of a notebook, the window in the door with the sun going down, the credits of a movie, bananas and yogurt on bread, my drawing, a felt scarf, a toy car, some garlic, the dashboard of my car and my new knitted gloves.
This week Sean and I went and saw "Edge of tomorrow" @ Wallis cinema in Mitcham. AWESOME movie, I love it, I want to watch it again. This crane I left on the table in the foyer of the cinema. Whenever I leave cranes in random locations I want to stay and watch how people react and engage with it. But I didn't. If you found it I would love to hear your thoughts/feelings about it.
I had a day off from markets on Saturday, I spent the day drawing one of the commissions I had on my books to do. It is an awesome drawing and I will share it as soon as the client has given it to her mum.
On Sunday Mum and I attended Meadows Country Market and it was a great day. Mum did me a massive favour and measured all 99cards... So this week I tick over 100 original artworks in around about 1 year. Not a bad effort.
This week we met Melinda from reincarnate and one of her scarves is featured in photo 376. Melinda has just started attending markets with her felt creations. We also featured one of Richard's cars in 377. He and his wares are in attendance at Meadows (2nd sun) and Stirling Markets (4th sun) each month. Hopefully in Spring you will be able to see me in attendance at Stirling Market as well.
Image 378. stars garlic organically grown by Ruth who with Tyson runs the Meadows Market. Ruth and Steve grow a variety of fruits, vegetables and meat on their farm Yerelina. You can find Ruth selling food and produce from her farm at Meadows on the 2nd sun and Adelaide Hills Farmers Market in Mt Barker every saturday (except the 2nd sat).
The last two photo of the week were taken while making pie with Mum. I went for a quick trip to get some more ingredients and I left number 379 on the self serve check out at the local IGA. From my car I saw the attendant pick it up. I wonder what happened to number 379 after that. Will 379 make it to the exhibition, or not?
380. Handmade is the best - Mundawora Alpacas. The background for this image is my new pair of gloves made by Jan Bentley from Mundawora Alpacas.
That is all for this week. Unfortunately it seems that Market on Oaklands will not be running after this Sunday. So if anyone knows of an indoor market I can attend as a stallholder in the Marion or surrounding areas on the 3rd weekend of the month please let me know.
You can find me at the following markets for June and July. Week 20!
WOW only 32 weeks to go! And 640 cups to drink 1280 cranes to fold! (still sounds like so many)
The backgrounds that I used this week were the grass with fresh raindrops on it, a pair of large leaves with clover cover below, my new note holders from Officeworks, curtains, clovers with rain on them, the cut branch of an almond tree, the wooden floor at the pizzeria, a book, leaves and grass, flowers, blanket with an inverse filter, textured paper, different grass, the wardrobe and a sign, bowl of apples, crochet rug, key hanging ornament on wooden table, pair of earrings that I bought, awesome salad that I ate and a fabulous chair!
This week Sean and I went and had all you can eat at Toto's Pizzeria, sitting on the floor taking photos is a conversation starter. ha ha ha.
We also attended Flinders St Market on Saturday and Sunday. So I met lots of wonderful people and stall holders.
355. Bobbing for apples - The Sunshine Van. Rene' and her daughter Sugar had their Sunshine Van - a caravan art gallery store next door to us on Saturday and Sunday. - "The Sunshine Van is a delightful little old caravan transformed into a snazzy Art Gallery Store - showcasing beautiful artworks by 27 talented artists" It is a fabulous art space filled with an abundance of art and crafts. 356. Thinking outside the square- Minnie Crochet Boutique A fantastic collection of amazing 'Crochet slippers, lariats, home decor and accessories and embroidered gifts.' Some really warm things for winter available from Minnie.
357. Elephant taxi - A stall of a fantastic collection of things from key hanging ornaments, to clothes and clocks.
358. Swingtime - Juanita Tortilla. 'Juanita makes fabulous bags and accessories out of unloved things for Eco-conscious people.' I bought the crochet earrings featured in this image. Because, well, I love them and they match my Wonkie Knee Art jacket I painted. Juanita is a girl after my own heart, as she enjoys re-purposing materials and other things into a new and fantastic products, something I also love to do. Which reminds me of the boxes of things I have in storage, that are going to have to come out and be completed into a new range of things for the spring market scene so stay tuned for that....so much to do so little time.... Also make sure you check out Juanita's awesome website and blog.
359. With Salad - The Lunch Lady. Anelis makes the most AMAZING salads, muesli, rhubarb crumble, cheesecake and I am sure the other things she makes are also delicious. As you can see mum and I ate soooo much from her stall. The muesli with strawberries and my fave yogurt was excellent. Mum had 2 crumbles so must have been tasty, we had salad for lunch and I had more for dinner. The salad we had was 'Bio-dynamic Brown Rice Salad with Raw Zucchini, Mixed seeds, Almonds, Mint and Avocado' and the dressing is divine! The White chocolate and raspberry cheese cake O MY GAWD!!!! Any way check out her FB page and come down to the market next time she is there and have a taste. B-E-A-utiful.
360. You ARE a doily! - Pretty by Pip. And last but certainly not least is Pretty by Pip. "Pip has released her own range of natural, mineral makeup. Great for sensitive skin - the only animal testing is on Pip! This range is made in South Australia, is Vegetarian friendly (has some Vegan friendly products, too) and is divine!" If you feel like getting a make over Pip is the one to see.
If you are curious about the title of this image, the cranes were folded from a doily from the lunch lady and if you have been following my journey you will be aware there are two other references to a doily and a line from a movie. That always makes me laugh. First person to post the correct movie to our Wonkie Knee Art Facebook page will win a postcard and limited edition art tote prize pack! Valued @ $40.
Also other fantastic stalls holders that I met on the weekend were Juice Excuse fantastic Juices and INCREDIBLE soup, which was definitely needed on Saturday as it was so cold.
Consultant which is a "Natural seasonings, spices, salts and other gourmet items which are inspired by ethnic regions and custom blended to make cooking fast, simple and healthy (with no added gluten, MSG or preservatives) Australian Made and Owned Company". If you would like to arrange a tasting contact Amanda via her facebook page.
This weekend had so many other superb stalls if you want to know the line up at Flinders st Market each week stay tuned the markets facebook page. But make sure you visit me @ meadows this Sunday.

Week 19!
This week I have made it to 340, which means I am over a third of the way there! As we were out when I had cup 333, my partner and I were curious about who will get number 666? I have also been a little concerned of other numbers that might be deemed unlucky but alas what can I do.
Enough about that I believe that everything happens for a reason and the right numbered cranes will luckily go to the correct person.
The backgrounds that I used this week have seen me start moving in another direction which I am truly enjoying a lot, but firstly in order, my t-shirt, the table, my diary, the curtains in the hall, a coffee cup and the coffee table, my cat Padme, a piece of gum tree bark in the grass, my jumper, the clover patch, a piece of butcher paper with strong lighting, a piece of red paper with strong sunlight coming from the window, the mossy grass under the clothes line, my latte at the Pancake Kitchen, my drink bottle and my t-shirt, the sky with the gum tree leaves and one of the clothes line wires, a bench at a school, the gymnasium floor, the wooden folding table top, the bed sheets again and finally my jumper with the bed sheets and the lamp light.
The new direction that I have been following has been moving outside and taking some amazing photos of cranes with leaves, grass, bark and sky, they just look incredible especially coupled with red cranes for contrast. So I am finding this collection to be very exciting and it gave me the idea of grouping shots into a smaller series of images, either as a set of cards or as artwork collection. We will see when we end up on the other side of this journey.
I have to specially mention cup 340. Watching the sunset. This would have to be one of my favourite images to date. As this photo is my jumper with something underneath it to make the mountains. I held the bed sheet up behind the mountain and moved the lamp in close to create the amazing lighting effect. Which prompts me to say that all of the photo I take are not enhanced or photo-shopped after they are taken with only my HTC one phone. Some of them I use the filters on the phone, most of them I take without a flash. On occasion i will use the flash but I will shield the flash using either a piece of paper or my finger. I digress...
This week Sean and I went and saw X-men at Mitcham Cinema and then we went into town for a late dinner at The Orignal Pancake Kitchen, the food and service at the pancake kitchen was awesome. The other guest were..... well the title of the image says it all "too much information" in so many ways. And that is all I am going to say about that.
Mum and I went to the Persian Breeders Cat Club Show on Sunday for other cat show events visit the Feline Association of South Australia page. I will not be at the next event as I am already booked in at Market on Oaklands. This event was excellent and the food at the canteen was AMAZING, we met some wonderful people and were privileged enough to draw and met some beautiful cats, visit our Wonkie Knee Art facebook page. (they will be uploaded to the webpage galleries as soon as I have time)
For the months of June and July you can find me at the following markets. Week 18
Sorry again for the delay, time just seems to be getting away from me at the moment. Lots of drawing and painting to do YAY!
This week the backgrounds used were a croissant at Ricca Coffee, the cover of Sean's 2nd draft of his feature film - it's going to be a awesome movie. The bench at mums house with a cup, my crane container, a bottle of milk and mum's shirt. The curtains in my studio, a chair, the keyboard, a mug and a pair of scissors, the window, more curtains, a pencil sketch, the bed sheets, a jumper, my red jacket with a pair of Tim Tams, the Opera House lego box at the Bricktopia event that a gentleman named Shaun was building, my big breakfast, my jeans, a scarf, the table cloth, mum's glass cleaning cloth and a coffee brochure.
317. Burnt Orange is a felt scarf from Kay's Kids at Market on Oaklands. Kay's Teddy writes a blog of all his adventures and our artwork features in his blog on the 18th of may. The blog is very good, it is poetry, and is so much better than my diary entries. Click the link above to have a read.
Organo Gold Coffee includes 100% certified organic Ganoderma which is regarded by the chinese as "Miraculous King of Herbs". It is a red mushroom. Check it out, the coffee tastes great.
I will be in attendance as Market on Oaklands every 3rd Sunday of the month. This is a great market, so make sure you come over and have a look. It is inside the Marion Leisure & Fitness Centre on Oaklands Rd. Morphettville, Each 3rd Sunday of the month from 9am to 3pm.
This market is also the closest market to my house and it means if I have Karate students grading I can just duck out of the market briefly to support my students and then get back to the market to help mum pack up.
Week 19 is coming up very shortly I promise.
Until next week may all your cups be delicious and all your cranes fly free. Make sure you register your email if you found a little bit of luck (a crane) or would like to attend the exhibition in approx 1 years time. Register here.
The exhibition will probably in March 2015 during the fringe festival. I just need to find a venue. If you have any suggestions for an awesome place to hold my exhibition, PLEASE let me know. As time is a constant thing I need to start planning the exhibition so IT WILL ACTUALLY HAPPEN. Here are this weeks images.

Week 17.
Unfortunately I have had some computer, technical issues this week and have not been able to post my blog. I know it is a little late, but it is finally here.
I reached the 300th Cup this week, which coincided with my sister's Birthday. Which means I am nearly a third of the way through my journey.
I thought I had used a lot of white last week! But I think that this week has more white in it than last week. Tall Shadows (280) came about from a piece of paper that I had cut some sentences out of. It reminded me of a city landscape and I thought it was visually interesting so I used it and I really like the end result.
Other textures and backgrounds that I used this week were an omelette, pencil shavings, biscuits, the car window, printed paper, material, water in the sink, coffee spilled on paper, a towel, my new white jacket, my red jacket, the painted words I added to my new white jacket, inside a lantern, the giraffe pattern curtains, my jacket and it's embellishments again, my top and the tassels on my wrap, sketch paper, the curtains at Meadows Market, the brain storming paintings I created for mum's jacket and finally the Transformer model at the Mitcham cinema, Mum my sister and I went to dinner and a movie for her birthday and mother's day. We saw 'The other woman' I was in tears it was very funny.
On Saturday night Sean and I attended the Central Districts Shows Associations award night. At which I was presented an award for the most successful exhibitor for 2014 in the Art Section. It was very exciting to receive an award recognising my efforts. We had a lovely meal and met some great people.
This week I was at Meadows Market on Sunday and I purchased some gourds which are know as natures pottery so look out for some gourd artwork in the future. I will be in attendance at Meadows again next month on the 2nd Sunday of the month which will be the 8th of June. I hope to see you there.
Until next week may all your cups be delicious and all your cranes fly free. Make sure you register your email if you found a little bit of luck (a crane) or would like to attend the exhibition in approx 1 years time. Register here.

Week 16
This week I spent the week working at home and I had a week off from the markets. My body really needed it.
I am a little short on the coffees only 2 a day, which is a good thing but not so much for my target. Oh well and last night I was planning on having 1 more to hit the 280, but I forgot. I was to caught up in drawing The Pelican and watching movies. So I made it to 280 this morning.
The photos this week starting with 266. Doodle cat, named this as the cranes have doodle drawings on them. She was sleeping on me and looked so cute I had to include her in the photo.
A Pair of Phoenixes (267) was created with my finger over the flash. It reminds me of lava and fire, it is one of my favourite photos. Cherry Blossoms (271) is a new t-shirt I painted for my mum.
White Pelican (272) is the drawing I have been working on this week, it is nearly complete. Looking at the images as a whole it appears I has a thing for white this week. I really like Black & White with a splash of Red (276) the cranes are made from black velour paper I placed them on a puffy envelop on which I had written the address with a red marker. The light hit if just right, I think.
I love the last shot of this week, it really makes me think that the cranes are out climbing in the Snow Covered mountains and the vanilla slice was delicious.
This weekend on Mother's Day Sunday the 11th, I will be at Meadows Market. The following Sunday 25th I will be at the Persian Breeders Cat Show.
Until next week may all your cups be delicious and all your cranes fly free. Make sure you register your email if you found a little bit of luck (a crane) or would like to attend the exhibition in approx 1 years time. Register here.

Week 15.
Well well well, we have arrived at Week 15. 265 cups of coffee consumed. 265 photos taken and 530 cranes folded! Still on track to make it to 1000 in one year. So that is pretty exciting.
This week I explored different materials to fold cranes with, mostly Easter egg foil, which can be a little bit of a challenge but fun nevertheless. In the photos I used a lot of different fabrics and food to create backgrounds. From t-shirts to doughnuts.
This weekend I attended Flinders st Market which is quickly becoming one of my favourite markets. Just because I love the uniqueness of the market and the stall holders, but mostly because I am making some wonderful friends.
(260) Live your Dream - Really Useful Pots,(fb page) was next door to me at this market and Susanna is fabulous. When she returns from her holidays we are going to collaborate on some fantastically fun projects, so stay tune! Make sure you check out all of her Really Useful Pots! (website)
We also met Shane, but my Mum brought him over to my stall so it was a little bit amiss of me, but I am not sure what he sells, besides Dr John Tickell's books. I will find out. Then there was Ama and Phil from The Coco Stop. Featured in (262) Pop Rock Chocolate, it is so tasty and fun. We also had some white chocolate and dried strawberry. YUM!
This is a great market in a massive stadium with plenty of parking. I met some great people here and will be back next month.
Pretty, Henna Tattoo (265) is the arm of the lovely Deepa, who has just started visiting markets to decorating the visitors with beautiful Henna Tattoos, she also does eyebrow threading and nails and will have a fb/website shortly.
I am attempting to create a regular structure through the autumn and winter months with my market stalls. So far this is where I will be The Fourth weekend of the month I will be at Flinders St (still deciding on sat or sun or both)
I have yet to secure a Market for the first weekend, I am looking at Blackwood and/or Uraidla. So nothing for this weekend I am needing a rest after a couple of busy weekends.
Remember it is Mother's Day Shortly. And if you are in need of a unique gift. I can create a wonderful drawing for your mum. (If you are quick.) I also have fantastic blank art greeting cards of all my art. Or you can grab a gift voucher to whatever value you like, for mum, from me, so she can choose the masterpiece she wants.
Until next week may all your cups be delicious and all your cranes fly free. Make sure you register your email if you found a little bit of luck (a crane) or would like to attend the exhibition in approx 1 years time. Register here.

Week 14.
I have been a little slack last week. So today we write back to back blogs. Lets hope I don't get TOO confused. And I can remember everything.
Lots of textures this week, glass doors, bread rolls, wooden wardrobe, quilt covers, origami roses and butterflies, more sheets, the tarmac and my apron.
Week 14 was Easter weekend. I attended the Meadows Country Fair. Which was an excellent event and I met some fantastic people with some amazing talents and products. Margaret and Henry sell some incredible animals made from soda cans made in Africa and other products that assist the African people. I love the giraffe featured in (243) Soda Can Giraffe.
Help, Fish, Fly (245) is part of this fabulous pieces created by Luke. I believe they are carved from wood and then copper is laid over the top. They look incredible and it is an amazing skill.
But until next week may all your cups be delicious and all your cranes fly free. Make sure you register your email if you found a little bit of luck (a crane) or would like to attend the exhibition in approx 1 years time. Register here.

Week 13.
I have been VERY busy this week continuing work on sketches and application for a SALA exhibition hopefully at Gallery One in Mitcham and creating new products for the markets. Sorry the blog is a little late.
The images from this week I explored printed materials, my own drawings and the different art on my grandparents walls.
I love 213 which was some trees in a magazine to me the cranes almost do look like they are flying through the trees. 217 and 218 are two of the pictures from my grandparents wall, the first an etching of a sailing boat and the second a needlepoint work created by my grandma.
In Wooden Cranes (223) the cranes have a wooden pattern on them and are sitting in a wooden bookshelf made by my grandparents. 225. Is the inside of my glove box and the cranes if you look closely are made from one of the maps from that glove box. I really like this image. I think it is the simplicity of the layout coupled with the texture of the map on the cranes and the texture of the black box and the texture of the aqua box contrasting with the circular stud.
Aztec Clear tails (230) is called this because they are made from the window of an envelop and the pattern on the inside of the envelop has an Aztec feel to it.
Events for the rest of April are:
Also this month The Flagstaff Hill Rotary Art Exhibition is now open until the 26th closing at 3pm. In which I have 3 works please get down there and vote for me for peoples' choice. I need all the help I can get. There is a lot of amazing pieces to see.
But until next week may all your cups be delicious and all your cranes fly free. Make sure you register your email if you found a little bit of luck (a crane) or would like to attend the exhibition in approx 1 years time. Register here.

Week 12.
200!
Yes 200! The first cup of the week was at Michel's in Kuralta Park. I love their slogan "Celebrate the good things" and it looks fantastic in the image.
Cup 200 which means so far I have folded 400 cranes! Mum and I wanted to have cup 200 at some where nice and we ended up at Balthazar Cafe in Pasadena just around the corner from my place. It was a very nice place for cup 200. The coffee was awesome with beautiful coffee art featured in the 200th image. The service from Charlotte was super and the food was perfect.
The rest of the week I was a bit light on the coffees, however the images are awesome. Topsy Turvy World(201) is my new stuffed Giraffe I won at the show. Bottom of the Well(202) is a shot I have been meaning to do for a while. I think it turned out really well even if the left side of the image is over exposed. Off the wall(203) is my bathroom tiles and it definitely has that uncomfortable feeling about it. My Basil! yes They're still alive(204) this week I separated the seedlings and spread them out evenly over 5 pots. So they all look very cute and organised at the moment.
I started struggling for images this week in my own home as I generally have coffee in the lounge room and almost all the surfaces have been previously photographed. So now thinking beyond the outside of the box begins. Which that is how Leaf Jumping(206) was created I walked outside my house(the box) and the first thing to grab me was the bright green leaves.
Coffee Therapy(207) is referring to therapy for the cranes soaking in the coffee (these cranes are made of plastic so they would survive the dunking) and my therapy is the act of drinking coffee and folding cranes.
The end of the week saw me attend The Flinders St Market on Saturday. I met some wonderful people at the markets this week . Starting with (209) Tree of life - Wili Heat Bags. Joanna makes wonderful heat bags with divided sections, velcro and awesome pretty materials. I am so getting some of these.
Next was Stu The Tea Catcher (210) Ent babies - The Tea Catcher I felt a little strange drinking coffee and not tea, but alas this is the task I set myself. Stu has and amazing assortment of teas that I can not even begin to tell you about so best if you head to his website and let him tell you. :o)
Finally was my neighbour at this market. Anna Couper a fellow Artist. Anna had some amazing Raku pots and some incredible Obvara pieces including the penguins staring in (211) Vanilla Cranes - Anna Couper. This image is named Vanilla Cranes as my niece has a thing for penguins and all of them are named Vanilla or Vanilla Mumble.
This week I have some students grading to their next belts and because it will be a big weekend for Easter next week I decided to have a market free weekend.
Events for the rest of April are:
A little bit about the breakfast. It should be an awesome event.
Flinders Street Market will host a community 'Pets Breakfast' event this year to help raise money for our little furry allies and feathered companions. We will set up some giant tables for everyone to sit down and share a meal together. There will be some entertainment and some brilliant prizes to be won in the raffle. DONT MISS IT ADELAIDE!
I will be donating 10% of my sales on the day to help our friends. This market would be the perfect time to visit me and have your pet drawn! If you do not have a photo and can bring your pet down I will be happy to take some photos for you.
Also this month I have entered 3 works - Karta, Tuan the Tiger and Blue Portrait into The Flagstaff Hill Rotary Art Exhibition opening night is on Wednesday the 16th of April and The exhibition will be open to the public on:
- Thursday 17th April 10am to 4pm
- Friday 18th (Good Friday closed)
